66notes drops mad knowledge with lyrical finesse on a classic lofi, Beastcoast, cello & strings driven, boombap beat by BenOaks -(sounds like DJ Premier of Gang Starr + RZA of the Wu-tang Clan)

“Money” has a soulful hook from Lancaster, PA based singer/songwriter Jefferson Ambrose.
66notes originally created the concept for this hiphop throwback beat by Benjamin Oaks aka BenOaks fka V1TAL of The Numinous.
Benjamin Oaks aka BenOaks releases his 1st all hiphop album. BenOaks has been making hiphop since buying his drum machine (Alesis HR-16b) at age 15 in 1993. And he has produced hundreds of singles & a few albums for other artists. But this is his first album using the all hiphop moniker “BenOaks”.
BenOaks is Ben’s hiphop stage name. It differentiates between his usual electronica. He also uses the name V1TAL to release dance music.
in 2012 Ben posted Craigslist ads in most major United States cities. After combing through hundreds of submissions, Benjamin Oaks found the handful of incredibly talented lyricists featured on “SAMSARA”
“SAMSARA” was recording between 2012-2015. It took so long to release because it went through two different record label distributors going out of business. There were 3 weeks in the past 3 years where it was available on all major retailers.
After relaunching the musical collaboration project Bones Culture-BenOaks, 66notes, Jefferson Ambrose, Nick the Blacklisted & Android Eddie decided to relaunch our record label & publishing company madPHATTER music. And also our media parent PH Makes an F Sound (which also specializes in live events, social media marketing, branding & design).
“SAMSARA” definition from Wikipedia: Saṃsāra is a Sanskrit word that means “wandering” or “world”, with the connotation of cyclic, circuitous change. It is also the concept of rebirth and “cyclicality of all life, matter, existence”, a fundamental belief of most Indian religions. In short, it is the cycle of death and rebirth. Saṃsāra is sometimes referred to with terms or phrases such as transmigration, karmic cycle, reincarnation, and “cycle of aimless drifting, wandering or mundane existence”.

PINK I & BenOaks’ “BARS (I Can’t Breathe)” is a Black Lives Matter anthem! Blast it loud! There will be no peace until there is justice for Black American murders by the Police! This official video with lyrics was shot & directed by Chloe Rivera, age 14. Daughter of Android Eddie (& niece of BenOaks).
This music video proudly shows that Black Lives Matter in small town USA!
“Let’s get high, and never come down” words sung so emotionally by multi-talented artist 66notes. At the end of this song 66notes asks, “You ever want to fly away? Far far away, and escape this reality?” The reality that he speaks of is the constant turmoil pertaining to racism/discrimination/prejudice that has continuously destroyed not only this nation, but the whole world. It is because of this reason, he along with so many others like him would like to get higher than the clouds, and never come down. 66notes is a humanitarian and advocate for social equality, ‘Never Come Down’ is one of many of 66notes’ songs that points out the negative attributes associated with the various forms of hate in our world. He hopes by producing more and more songs with these types of messages, that it will spark much needed awareness to deal with these growing issues.
I’m excited to share two new acoustic based triphop tracks from The Numinous – a triphop / electrosoul / grime / urban electronica / alternative hiphop / PBR&B music project (and production team) from artist/songwriter/rapper/singer/producer 66notes & I. This project also features midwest songbird Devy Dev Dev & rapper/producer Daytym fka LDK fka Lawrence Day-Knightly.
The soundscape returns to an atmospheric, drone acoustic guitar & piano based instrumental. Unlike the powerful, epic heavy synth based grime (trap + grime + crunk + EDM + electronica + detroit techno) sounding work of the past year from 66notes and I’s ALLiWANT sessions and similar bass heavy work from my upcoming BASSisOurWeapon solo LP.
And there is also an actual b-side with similar sounding synths from the ‘Chapter Zero’ (song) instrumental sessions with V1TAL & V!CE called ‘Beyond the Frame’ which was previously unreleased.
We’ve got some more news from The Numinous–
- 66notes just released his latest solo album Fade to Grey. Available on all major retailers like Amazon at the end of the month. Pre-order now!
- Daytym fka LDK is working on his debut solo album! Available this fall. Listen to his album #12Arrows with music by BenOaks.

Delaware’s own versatile artist (and OG skateboarder) Gentle Jones and Philly’s notorious producer Benjamin Oaks have collaborated on a handful of interesting hiphop tracks the past few years. These gems feature the extreme mental dexterity of Gentle Jones and the lyrical flow of a microphone veteran. Ranging from classic 90’s style soul/funk flavored boombap to experimental electro jams and dubstep/grime bass heavy bangers, Benjamin Oaks showcases the broad range of his musical palette.
And here is another banger from Gentle Jones’ latest album Blood King.
“Blood King ends with strands of Gentle Jones’ origins, a brief snap of ska sets closing track ‘So High I Think I Might Die’ on its way. Lyrically it reads like a reflection of a heightened awareness of mortality, the invincibility and enjoyable trappings of youth versus facing the future, a cosmically set look at what awaits us all on our own day of reckoning. I could be wrong, but one of the enjoyable aspects of Gentle Jones’ music is it’s thematic value, and confusion, it could all mean absolutely nothing, or it could be masking his fears and frustrations with humour, I’ve a feeling it’s the latter, but that can be set aside and the music can just be enjoyed, which I think was the ultimate goal of Blood King.”
“Gentle Jones sits comfortably atop the Mason-Dixon line in his home state of Delaware, performing frequently as a Hip-Hop MC and DJ. He’s also done stints as the Frontman for The Bullbuckers (Ska band) and The Barons (Punk band), winning local awards and international acclaim.
Known for his breathtaking vocal range, Gentle Jones moves easily from singing, to screaming, to intricate rhyming cadences.
Honing his craft on stages from California to Ireland, Gentle Jones has delighted concertgoers beside music legends The Wailers, Murs, Condemned 84, Murphy’s Law, The Pietasters, Cappadonna, Trombone Shorty, Brother Ali, The Slackers, and Bad Luck 13. A phenomenal songwriter with working class roots and space age chops.”
The track “Skateboard Rap” is an ode to the legends of pro skateboard lore.
And you can’t forget the East Coast’s love of good “Sandwiches”. Shout outs to Capriott’s Bobby and Wawa.
