Watch our new official video collage for our hiphop jawn “Money”. Produced by beat master BenOaks & featuring incredible lyrical finesse by Des Moines’ 66notes & Ren Thomas (of VH1‘s Signed) + soulful vox by Jefferson Ambrose
Rad music blog Death or Desire gave a truly incredible review of “Summer’s Day” – a spoken word + jazz collaboration between our cofounder & creative director BenOaks & new lyrical artist LEE MORR.
BenOaks remembers “We met about 5 years ago when I was still partying & doing drugs. He protected a woman who he didn’t even know. I always remembered that. We ran into each other a few times since then. He always asked if I was making new beats. I took a few years off while I got sober. So when we ran into each other at a spoken word / poetry event last summer hosted by an artist who is a mutual friend, it renewed our friendship. We have been hanging out a lot since then at my studio I share with two other incredible artists. One a fine artist. Painter / print maker / carpenter Darren Jordan. Another a fashion designer- Bird aka BirdUpProductions. We have been doing shows all together this Winter. Our 3rd event all together is this Saturday in Lancaster, Pennsylvania where we all live.”

Blending sexy, emotional spoken word with jazz keys & standup bass, “Summer’s Day” by Lee Morr & BenOaks is a powerful song that is 5 years in the making.
Lee Morr & BenOaks met when Benjamin first moved to Lancaster, PA from LA. They met regularly at a mutual friend’s house. Socializing & planning to collab “some day”. This summer Lancaster’s blossoming spoken word scene brought them together again. After a few weeks of meeting up at A Concrete Rose & Sir Dominique Jordan’s weekly spoken word open mic, they finally made plans to record at Benjamin’s new private studio – HighWise Multimedia.
Have you ever felt abandoned by God? All alone with no one to turn to?
66notes take us on an emotional lyrical journey on our new bass-heavy trap banger “Don’t Ever Let Me Go” produced by BenOaks. Which also features a spoken word intro by Circumstantial Saint.
This single is remarkable since it is the first time Ben has started a beat. Finished mixing it. Sent to 66notes. And 66notes sent his mix back- all within 24 hours.
Since meeting a few weeks ago, Brother Ray & BenOaks have performed their favorite R&B classic, Bill Wither’s “Ain’t No Sunshine” a few times.
This is actually how they met too! BenOaks walked into Lancaster’s Penn Square (in the center of town) to busk like he usually does most Saturdays around noon. But someone was already in his favorite spot!
What a pleasant surprise when this person, Brother Ray, starts to sing Ben’s favorite song “Ain’t No Sunshine”! He then performs another of his faves- Sam Cooke’s “Change Gonna Come” 🙂
Ben ran home & grabbed his guitar. They’ve been rockin together ever since! They have already started recording Brother Ray’s debut album! Stay tuned!
